For the Children: 3 Ideas for Setting up Productive Learning with Technology
When it comes to technology and your kids, it doesn’t have to be all about video games. The same technology that they use to play the latest children’s games can also be a great tool to help them learn. In fact, by allowing your child to learn with computers you are better enabling them to gain the computer skills they will need later in life.
Having said that, to really promote learning attention is required. Simply allowing them to use a computer to surf the web, or play a video game won’t teach your child anything. To help you promote a learning here are three ideas to get you started.
Children and Computers
One way to promote learning through technology is actually just to let them use the computer. Instead of turning on a game though, allow them to use the home PC to complete their latest assignment. This will help your child to learning typing skills, and will also help them gain the knowledge they need to use a PC effectively.
Letting them use a Word processor to create their next book report, is a good example of promoting learning by simply allowing them to use the computer.
Websites for Children
The web can be a great place for children to learn about all sorts of topics. Everything from the alphabet to the latest scientific advancement in medicine can be found on the Internet. For a child, close monitoring of their online activity is required.
Setup your web browser to only allow them to the sites you allow, and then find websites that both teach, and are appropriate for your child’s age group. Using the internet in this way you teach your child about the World Wide Web, and allow them to learn more about topics that really interest them.
Children’s Games - Make Learning Fun
The last way that you can promote learning through technology is with video games. In this case you want to choose games that teach, but that also make learning fun. A search on Google, or a trip to your local computer store will turn up many games that are topic specific, and that also reward your child for doing good.
A video game can be an excellent way to promote learning on a topic that your child doesn’t overly like. With the interactivity that the computer offers, the game adds visual material, audio cures, and a large element of fun to learning.
Using technology to promote learning is an easy way to help your child with any areas where you feel they need to learn more. For most children, simply using a computer, makes learning a whole lot more fun!
